I have been a working photojournalist since 1991. In 2007, I gave up my staff position at the Calgary Sun to pursue a new chapter in my photographic life - teaching photojournalism at SAIT Polytechnic in Calgary. I currently work with the best photojournalism teaching staff in the country (IMHO), and we are excited for the future of our program, and also for our students.
My career has taken me to places that I probably never would have gone otherwise, and I have been very fortunate to have been able to meet, and photograph so many interesting people - both locally, and from around the world. It has truly been a wonderful ride. My career path has taken me to remote regions of the Rocky Mountains shooting mountain survival training for the Canadian Forces; it has taken me to orphanages in the heart of Mexico; I have been to anti-NATO protests in the Czech capital; I have flown with the Canadian Air Force aerobatics team (the Snowbirds); I have photographed world leaders at G8 Summits; I have photographed professional athletes in a wide variety of sports; and, I have photographed famous actors and musical acts too numerous to count...
... through all of this, I have come to realize that the most enjoyable subject matter is actually the everyday, ordinary person who has a story to tell.
