I just completed this video project for Kirstie Kasko, a young paralympic swimmer who is training hard to qualify for the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio. She is hoping to raise enough money to help with the costs of coaching, personal training, lane rental, and travelling to major competitions.
Kirstie has had some very difficult challenges in her young life. As a baby Kirstie suffered severe seizures, which resulted in some damage to her brain. As an athlete she has been classified as an S14 (Swimmer with an Intellectual Disability). But most recently she has been afflicted with other health complications including heart block and epilepsy. Despite these challenges, Kirstie competes at an incredibly high level, and maintains a very positive attitude. She has already competed at the 2012 London Paralympic Games, and is confident she'll make it to the games in Rio. In addition to being an absolute sweetheart, she has an outstanding work ethic.
Check out my video below, or better yet, view it on the Pursuit crowd funding website where Kirstie is accepting donations for her Paralympic bid. If you are able, please consider supporting this very deserving young athlete.
Cheers,
K
